Lit · er · a · cy - Pronunciation[lit-er-uh-see] –noun The quality or state of being literate, esp. the ability to read and write.

Mind Candy has made a commitment to help improve the literacy rates amongst our African American and Hispanic children in the United States. Nationally, Hispanic and African American teenagers have the lowest literacy rates. Since individuals with literacy skills are more likely to obtain better jobs and achieve more success in life, it's important that we play a role in their growth and development.
